The Ka-ṭa-pa-yā-di system allows one to arrive at the Mēḷakartā number from a Mēḷakartā name. Is there an easy way to get the Mēḷakartā name from a Mēḷakartā number?
There is no formula for this to the best of my knowledge. I can suggest a fun way to remember the association of a Mēḷakartā number with a Mēḷakartā name. For instance, each day if you see a number between 1 and 72, you can look up its Mēḷakartā name, and try to remember that! In some instances, you could test yourself eg. if you do this in a gym locker, you could memorise the name and recall the number when re-opening the locker. Another idea is to do so for both, the Mēḷakartā number and its complement e.g. 1 and 37; 9 and 45, and so on.
